Boat Passengers with Alcohol

I have started looking at the lakes convenient to Birmingham for a weekend getaway lake home. I have been to Lake Martin a few times but have never been out on Smith Lake.
Heard stories that it was very strict about even boat passengers having a drink while riding. I completely understand boat drivers but passengers? How bad is it?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Just take this into consideration, "ALL" surronding area of Smith Lake are "DRY". Legally no alcholol is allowed. If you dont get crazy or showboat or get sloppy drunk it will not be a big problem. Just remember, if you do get caught with it, you will pay the price. The operator of the vessel, drinking or not, is responsible for all passengers.
