The is a town in the Sandy Creek area call Sussanah. Some of the buildings were torn down but not all. My son dives and said no point in trying to dive the area. Visibility is too bad.

I have an original map published in 1861 by Colton that shows a town called Montreal on the banks of the Tallapoosa. I don't know if the community still existed when the lake was impounded, but if anything was there it would be in deep water now. As best as I can describe to you here, the site could be located by drawing a line from Dadeville to Rockford... where the line intersects the original streambed, you should find the location of Montreal. In 1861, there was a road from Dadeville to Rockford that crossed the river (a ferry probably) at Montreal.

Another road started at Socapatoy (now the intersection of highway 280 and Coosa Co. 9), & intersected with the Dadeville-Rockford road at Montreal.

None too exact directions but hope you find this helpful..... happy hunting.

I had heard there was one between Dixie sailing club and the Kowliga bridge-- about half way between the two in some deep, dark murky water.

I bought my Dad a book a while back about the building of the major hydro-electric dams in Alabama. It had a pretty good chapter on Martin dam and the impoundment of the lake, including descriptions of some of the areas that were submerged. If you can find a copy of the book, you might get some good ideas of places to dive, though my experience has been that the vis below 20 feet or so is usually marginal, and it gets miserably cold below the thermocline. Here's a link to the book on Amazon:

If that didn't work, the name of the book is "Putting Loafing Streams to Work". Do a quick search on Amazon and you'll find it.
