The following was written by an English professor at the University of Alabama:
T’was the night before Saban, and all through the South,
Auburn fans were talking and running their mouths,
Their campus was in top shape and handled with care,
In the hopes that top recruits would soon be there,
The Tigers were all snoozing comfortably in their beds,
While visions of blue chippers danced in their heads,
My wife and I were frustrated since the Tide was in a real fix,
And were hoping they could somehow avoid loss number six,
When out of South Florida there arose such a clatter,
I jumped on the Internet to see what was the matter,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a disciplined coach wearing crimson and white gear,
With a 91-42 record and national championship to kick,
I knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick,
He didn't speak a word, he just went straight to work,
But later I heard him mumble "Tuberville is a jerk"
Further into the evening, as Saban toured Bryant Hall,
I thought to myself how Auburn seemed so small,
So I put my houndstooth back on and smiled with pride,
A great era is upon us, one full of "ROLL TIDE".

Before your grin splits your head wide open, ponder these numbers:
Nick Saban's record as an SEC coach: 48-16 Terry Bowden's record as an SEC coach: 47-17-1

Why the comparison with Terry Bowdon?

Just comparing the record of The Second Coming who has all Auburn fans and coaches trembling with terror with the record of an ex-coach who, after spending some time as a genuine laughingstock, is now regarded as an over-rated flop.
Two vastly different perceptions, with almost identical records. Perhaps the Bama nation is being a bit premature with their "Saban is God and Auburn is dead" talk.

Understand now where you are coming from. I agree that this whole thing is very much overblown yet using win loss records alone I think that Saban and T. Bowden have better winning percentages in the SEC than Tuberville looking at Ole Miss and Auburn records or just Auburn alone. Could be wrong, but like I said time will tell.

The point is they could have gotten the same quality coach and saved around 3 million dollars a year.

Let's find out. In conference games only (SEC):
Saban has a record of 28-12, or .700. Bowden had a record of 30-14-1, or .677. Tuberville has a record of 56-40, or .538; at Auburn, Tuberville has a record of 44-20, or .688.
Overall:
Saban's college record is 91-42-1, or .683. Bowden's record was 47-17-1, or .731. Tuberville's record is 96-49, or .662; at Auburn, Tuberville is 71-29, or .710.
Again, I don't see enough difference there to proclaim Saban infinitely superior, or to give Auburn fans sufficient reason to be scared.

and my point is that Saban has at least as good a record overall and in the SEC to compare to Tuberville who has a top notch program in the SEC and a fan base that loves him. Rather than a comparison to Terry Bowden who had a comparable record and the fans that hate him. I agree there is no reason to claim superiority from these stats.

I want to congratulate the Tahd on their coaching move this week. Really more than congratulate I want to thank them. You see these stupid, inbred, trailer trash, hicks do not have a clue what they have done.
The Hick Nation loves to speak of our "little brother" status and our ability to only perform when we are fighting for respect from an underdog position. How many times have we been told we can't handle frontrunner status. So now we have a situation where in one day Auburn, you know the team that has kicked their Old Milwaukee scented A$$ 6 of 7 years has been rendedered the freaking "Underdog" status. Yes, thats right, my Auburn Family, the pressure, expectations, and spotlight are squarely on the Spam Grilling, toothless, tornado dodging, Food stamp nation and their Coach LIAR!
Have they stopped to think that if what they say about us is true, they have done us the largest favor in history. I mean as we come off of the greatest period of Auburn Football in perhaps history. As we have ascended to National Power status in all media markets but our own state. We have been given the opportunity to tell our talent laden team and our world class coaches that they have NO Respect.
We actually get to be freaking UNDERDOGS on our own turf as we go for number six! Its unimaginable really isn't it? They have not "awoken the sleeping giant" in Tuscaloosa, they have Tugged on Superman's Cape and I for one am living for the season where we will crush the hopes and dreams of the suddenly inspired hick nation. We will put down this rebellion!!!

Ask anyone in Texas now & of course they are all Longhorn fans ( more are sporting Texas gear since the recent football success). However, just as in Alabama.. UT is the state university. Yet Texas A&M Aggies are the really loyal fans ..just like AUburn fans. It never fails(even here in Texas), I have on an AU shirt & someone shouts out "OH I'm an ALABama fan! Really I reply, what year did you graduate?? They stammer around.."well I didn't ... actually go there " I reply.. well I'm sorry to hear that.. I graduated in 'AUBldg Science. Most don't know where Tuscaloosa is... My point...AUburn is family ,you go there, you are proud..you send your kid(s) there. Then they have that bond after you're gone for the rest of their life. I know..my son is an AU Aviation grad..he listens to the AU games & all AU radio events in the cockpit !! Your flightplan is AUburn. Go SEC! War Eagle!
