A friend of mine called Saturday afternoon and we headed for the water around 2pm. We launched from Willow Point where they were scaling a club tournament. We watched the weigh in for a bit to see what the fishing was like that morning and were quite pleased to see that it took 14+ to get in the money. The water was still down a bit from the recent pulling of water. After seeing the nice bags come across the scales I knew we were in the right place though. We headed south to my favorite roadbed. I was throwing a Fat Free Shad white in color and quickly started hooking up. I boated 3 over 3pds in like 5 minutes. A few smaller ones after that. Within the first 20 minutes of fishing I had boated five fish around 13 to 14 pds total. Then, just as if you had fliped a switch the bite stopped. We searched the rest of the afternoon without another fish over 12" and not many under 12". I guess it was all about timing and placement. The Lord blessed us with an excellent afternoon though. Tight lines and raw thumbs to all! Buddy
