I'd be willing to bet that we've had more rain in the last 8 hours than in the previous 8 weeks......gully washers have been popping up all day.

You'd lose that bet.   I had 2.85" yesterday.
Prior 60 days accumulation has been 4.30 "

I'm 99% sure I wouldn't lose it in my location in Eclectic!

Yep. Surprising how a few miles can make such a big difference.  That's why I participate  with CoCoRaHS.

 Blatant ad for more volunteers.
If anyone is interested, we can use as many as possible.  Btw, doing a state climate series on all 50 states. Interesting reading each day.

What are the requirements to participate? I've thought about getting a home weather kit, but I'm gone a lot (when all appendages are working correctly) and wasn't sure how that would work out.

You do need to use the official rain gague.  PWS's do not qualify.  There is a multiple day reporting mechanism when you are out of town.  My cat has followed me so many times reading the gague, I think he could take the readings and report it. lol.
