I use Cingular around the Dadeville area with few problems--unless you head down Hwy 49 south of Blue Creek toward Tallassee. Cingular is not sold in this area, if that will give you a clue as to their own opinion of their service.

Hi Osms, I am heading down right after Thankgiving to check on things and make some various selections. The foundation with pad and rough ins are complete. The framing for the walk-out basement was to start last week. They have got a lot of work completed on the new seawall. My Brother will be at the Lake this weekend. So, I am sure he will give me a report.
A Brief Synopsis: I am hemorhaging money.

I have Cingular (out of Birmingham) and have just okay service until I get to my driveway. As soon as I leave Centerport Road and drive into the tree-tunnel that is my driveway, I've got zip. Sometimes I may have as many as two (count 'em - 2!) bars, but can't call out. I will receive a call (the phone will ring), but can't hear the caller. We installed a very basic service land line for about $20/month. Also gives me comfort knowing I can make a 911 call.

You ain't started spending money yet!! Heard this a long time ago and I can vouch for it: You will spend half your money the last 30 days of a construction project..

My son has a Razor on Cingular and works better than my Verizon Motorola on the lake.
The key to getting any cell phone is to ensure it covers the GMS, Digital and Analog bands. Think it is called a tri band phone.
Most of the time around the house on North End the Verizon signal is analog, while the Cignular serivce is digital.

I'm at the boathouse stage, but I skipped the "doggie steps" part--always wondered what steps disappearing into the water were for--thought they were for old folks!!!

I've got a Cingular Razr -- it only operates on GSM, but it does a better job than the old GAIT (tri-mode) phone I had. I think Cingular roams on T-Mobile GSM at the lake--T-Mobile doe a pretyy good job here.

I did not pull the trigger on switching to Cingular...at least not yet. My T-Moble works where I need it to. I'm also leary of a 2 year contract. They should offer a 1 year.
Thanks

You should see the agony you go through trying to end the contract with SPRINT even after the two years runs out. They just keep billing you and billing you. Took numerous phone calls and two formal letters. Thought I was going to have to hire and attorney.
