I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!!

Sunday was kind of BLAH but we got the Seadoos in and kind of just fiddled around the house for most of the day.

Monday however was sunny and beautiful so I already had the boat out of the garage so I went to Clear Creek to launch and my truck is too low in the back and the trailer hits bottom before I can get back far enough to launch.

So we got on over to Lakeside and for $4 they launched the boat with their tractors for me so we were able to get out and had a great day.

Now onto the word.........While at Lakeside I got to talking to the Owner (I think) and he said the APCO is claiming all of this mess is not THEIR fault that it is Army Corp of Engineers fault.

What that tells me is that it is all political and unless someone wants to draft a serious letter to the governor then we are going to have no control over the situation.

He also said that APCO intends to lower the lake another 2 ft by Wednesday this week and that should be it for a while.

Anyone that is not ready to throw in the towel on the Summer...........Lakeside said as soon as the water drops the 2 feet they are going to take a back hoe and dig out as far as possible and extend their boat ramp 20ft so that they can still launch. (he said APCO gave him a pemit for it also).

Personally I am not through just yet, we have a few scheduled parties for the lake including the race and while I am going to have to dock the boat 4 houses down, it is still better than a weekend in Birmingham.

Has anyone else heard anything different than that?

I heard the same thing. I think that'll pretty much leave Rabbit Branch a mud puddle. I stirred up mud pulling up to the dock yesterday. Even if I could get my boat in the water where would I go? It was an interesting drive from Rabbit Branch to the cliffs and back. The worst part is that stretch by Powells Hideaway. Might be time to invest in a depth finder.

Oh well. I'm out of commission for a while anyway. I think I cracked a rib tubing yesterday. That and the fact that I can't turn my head should tell me not to tube anymore.

You think after they let it down two more feet that'll be it for the winter? I sure hope not. I'm up for an email blitz - who do we write?

I am going to find out when the next Logan Martin homeowners meeting is and maybe we can all show up and at least ask some questions.

I seem to be in a fog today and cannot remember what the actual name of the association is. Seems like I named it last week but the fog is so thick I cannot remember how to go back and look.

I will pass the info on about the meeting when I get it.......

Yesterday we were up by Stemley Bridge and a helicopter came in landed on a pier and then turned around and flew back off.........Is this the way they normally go to the lake?????? If so I know what I want for Christmas.........It looked really really cool......

What about LMLPA? Logan Martin Lake Protection Association?
My neighbor gave me an application form for it. It's says for more info contact Donn Brascho 205 525 0051. $25 to join.

From the form:

I would like to join the LMLPA in the fight to prevent our lake water from being taken over by others, to make improvements for the safety of swimmers and boaters alike, and to protect the quality and quantity of out beautiful Lake Logan Martin.

Don't see anything about a website. Looks like snail mail only. I do know the Brascho family has been around the lake a long time but I don't know any of them.

Yes that is it, I know the son Brad and sent him an email asking when the next meeting was.

We joined around the first of the year but have not been to a meeting yet. The newsletter does have pretty detailed minutes from the meeting but does not reflect how many people are in attendance or if people are able to ask questions. APCO seems to have a rep there at the meetings though.

I will pass on the information about their next meeting.

The helicopter is right across the river from me. It is a cool way to get to the lake.

I too want to know about the next LMPA meeting. We need answers! I think we all agree rain is the only real fix to the problem. But it's still mighty fishy why the 3 lakes down stream are still nearly full. And upstream is not suffering as much as we are either. I flew over Gasden yesterday and they are down, but nothing like us. The next one up is as bad as Martin however.

Peace,
<><
