The lake level is holding around 491.1 feet with full pool at 510 feet. Does anyone have any information as to how much rain will be necessary by April, 2008, for the level to be back up to full pool (510 feet)?
Question #2 - Does anayone really think that the level for 2008 will be greater than 502 feet?
Question 3 - Can anyone explain the following water shifts?
March 1, 2007 to June 1, 2007 - Lake levels increased by an average of +0.9 feet/month
June 1, 2007 to October 1, 2007 - The lake level dropped by an average of -3.6 feet per month
October 1, 2007 to December 1, 2007 - The lake level dropped by -0.9 feet per month.

#1 an amount equal to average rainfall #2 yes #3 the worst drought on record for this area and Alabama Power doing their best to maintain the water level. Does ph stand for pin head? pot head? positively humorless? presumtively hateful?

pH is a term that requires some level of intelligence to understand. Unfortunately, your comments as to what pH stands for suggests that you might be lacking in this area. So, continue to be cute with your first grade comments and we will understand.
You might also be interested in the recent article by Jared Key as to what's going on with APC in the management of water level by APC for Smitth Lake. If you have problems understanding what is being stated, I'll arrange to have my 8 year old grandchild explain the article to you.

Who's gives a Rat's *SS what Jared Key wrote? Looking at all the stupid crap you have written/asked, I would venture to say that you are in fact Jared Key. As far as what ph stands for; Its the measure of the alkalinity or acidity of a solution. The ONLY reason SLISA was ever created, was to bankroll the costs of a few greedy developers that were trying to fight APCO in order to have miles of seasonal water front lots become "Year-round" water... What does ph stand for: It stands for the water quality or lack thereof Smith Lake will suffer, if these greedy indivduals get their way.

Wow! What an intellect! I'm impressed. I'll bet that you're the 4th seat on the back row who repeated chemistry 101 three times. Or, could you possibly be the plant from the public relations department of ALPCo who adopted a "special" alias (Slisasucks) to reply to homeowners and attempt to create a defense that water quality will suffer with reduced fluctuations in water level or cities will run out of drinking water? I'll also bet that you think that the earth is still square and man did not land on the moon. Watch out! I might be your next door neighbor and might not give you a ride if your boat breaks down!.

My my Jared, seems I touched on a sour note with ya.... Intellectual? Why yes, you attacked another member of this site because he didn't know what ph stood for, so I figured I would step in and lend a hand.... Seems like your empire is crumbling along with the rest of the developers and scum-suckers that are whoring out this lake to make a quick buck. HOW DO YA'LL SLEEP AT NIGHT, KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE UP TO? Never mind, if you can't be honest to the "Stakeholders" why would you start being honest now?

I was right! You do believe that the earth is flat; man didn't land on the moon; and less fluctuations in water level will cause poor water quality. Alabama Power didn't do a good job when you were selected to be their spokesperson on this forum. I need to talk with them about how you are behaving. So, why not consider a change in alias from "slisasucks" to "istink".
Just to clarify another comment that you made. I had said that I might be your neighbor, not Jared. Neighbors do not talk about each other the way that you do. Since you were so naughty in your comments about Jared, I won't give you a ride if a see you on the lake with boat problems.
Oh, and by the way, Jared is doing a good job with SLISA in their efforts to get stability on Smith Lake. This conflict "ain't" about developers. It's about the little man who wants good water quality, decent water levels, and harmony with Alabama Power.

Oh Yeah, Jared and all his cronies are doing a fantastic job of fighting Alabama Power..... PLEASE... You talk about Slisa caring about water quality, but yet most of the officers or whatever it is you would like to call the people in charge at SLISA are all developers, real estate agents/brokers, marina owners and large tract property owners that are trying to sell their "Seasonal" water. I didn't notice anything on SLISA's website about the "Renew Our River's" cleanup. WHY? I thought you guys care about the water quality on Smith Lake? Or maybe it's just the WATER LEVEL you care about? Have you ever heard the saying: "Quality NOT Quantity"? Well, quite frankly, I would rather have quality than quantity... I'm sorry that it makes your seasonal lots not worth as much as year round, but at least it keeps my clean water clean.... I guess all those condo's that are being built on this lake also improves the water quality? GET A LIFE AND GET A REAL JOB

Hey "Istink"! Opps, I meant to say "slisasucks"! Where are those "year round" lots on Smith Lake? The lots that I've seen that you would classify as "year round" are probably those that require an elevator, a pulley system, or the skills of a moutain goat to get up the walkway. In this area, true year round lots, in my opinion, are only found on a TVA system. However, water quality and depth cannot compare to Smith Lake.
Based on your comments, the readers outside this area would think that only developers occupy land on Smith Lake. Where are the ordinary citizens? By your definition, I guess that I'm classified as a developer even though I have never purchased property other than the land and house that I currently own. The more you talk on this forum, the more that I'm convinced that you are not a property owner but a stooge of Alabama Power.

You're 100% correct.... I'm a spy for Alabama Power, how did you find out? Seems the only people on this forum that are constantly complaining about the lake levels are the developers that have the most to gain by increasing the lake levels. SLISA would even have you believe that APCO somehow tricked the weather, so that we could have a drought for the last few years and then stole their water to aid in navagation and the Gorgas cooling towers. Seems you forgot to answer some of the questions I presented last night. So I guess I'll ask them again: If SLISA is so concerned with the water quality of this lake, why aren't they sponsoring any of the lake clean-ups? Why don't I read about their efforts to help keep Smith Lake clean? How come all we ever hear from SLISA is SEND IN YOUR MONEY and Alabama Power is taking our water? Remember, APCO paid to have this reservoir filled, NOT SLISA.... By the way, I own a "Seasonal" lot, so I too would gain from increased water levels, fortunately though I can see through the SMOKE & MIRRORS that Jared and his cronies have formed in order to further their bank accounts.

What we have to keep in mind is the big picture. While the lake is showing some growing pains...ie. development, too many boats on the water and pollution of the lake we are only here for a short amount of time.
In the 3 years I have been on the lake I have gone from enjoying the weekends on my boat dock to sitting on the shore because of all the waves and traffic that have increased. At Ryan creek Marina there are over 50 new boat slips. Multiply that times the number of additional condos being built and the additional number in the planning stages and we will see 2-3 times the traffic we are seeing now with-in the next 5 years. Along with all this traffic will come more trash in the lake, serious damage to boathouses that historically survived the summers and an enviroment that will not allow for our kids, families and friends to safely ride seadoos, ski, wakeboard or just enjoy a sunset on their boat docks.
Go 10 years into the future...we all, hopefully, will still be here and on the lake ...quadruple the traffic.
We all knew when we bought into Smith lake that the water levels will change/fluctuate. WE KNEW THAT. Why isn't the pressure on Alabama Power to PRESERVE this lake. Just think with strong regulations in place our investments will skyrocket. Everyone will want to be on a place where only a limited number can access.
I am not trying to be a doomsday sayer but I think it besets us all...Lovers of Smith lake to think of our investments, our children's future, and the health of this beautiful place.
There is a saying the indians used to describe the dilemma before us all today...
"We did not inherit the land from our forefathers, we are borrowing it from our children"

TookaQueen, I couldn' t have said it better myself! You are so correct in your vision, which is why I'm so opposed to SLISA. They have one common goal in mind: INCREASE LAKE LEVELS IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE THE PROFIT OF THEIR INVESTMENTS IN SEASONAL LAKE FRONT PROPERTY. I don't have anything against their turning a profit, but I do have a problem with developers that will rape this beautiful lake, just to make a buck!

SLISASUCKS
You continue to amaze me with your statements. Everything is about SLISA and a few people wanting to turn a profit. What about the other 99% who are not developers and want water level minimums?
Since you are not interested in making a profit on your property, I going to make you a deal. I'll buy your property for $100 and then you can say that you are not like a developer and are not interested in making a profit on your investment. Being a developer is apparently a bad word in your vocabulary. .
Since you are interested in preserving water quality, I'm sure that you would admonish Alabama Power for waiting so long to install emission control systems at the Gorgas Plant. Do you think that Alabama Power is interested in making a lot of money for their investors. You bet your bippy. That is their primary objective.

OH, SO YOU FINALLY AGREE THAT JARED AND THE REST OF THE GANG ARE ACTUALLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY AND NOT THE WATER QUALITY? I'LL TELL YOU WHAT: YOU GIVE ME EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE INTO MY PROPERTY, WHICH IS A LOT MORE THAN $100 AND YOU CAN HAVE IT. YOU TALK SUCH A SILLY TALK. HOW OLD ARE YOU? TEN?

I'm older than ten and more than your equal. It's obvious that you do not intend to answer questions of importance and continue with your babblings. It's apparent that your vocabulary is limited to developers, crooks, Jared, and a few other words. When are you going to grow up and face reality?

What questions? Neither you nor Jared has posed any questions worth answering. Quite frankly, its you guys that continually babble about nothing but how SLISA is going to make Smith Lake a better place. I still haven't seen one positive change that you guys are trying to implement, that one way or another doesn't fill your pocketbooks.
