Two questions: 1: the March edition is just 48 pages including the front and back covers. Does anyone recall the last time it was so slim?
2: On page 36 there is a story titled "Rich in Tradition." A large photo accompanying the story-- and the photo in question is a half-page, maybe larger-- is of a house burning. Does anyone know what a burning house has to do with tradition? I know Alexander City suffered a terrible fire around the turn of the century, but this photo is much newer than that.
P.S.-- I just realized that the phrase "turn of the century" isn't as definite as it used to be. I meant early 1900s, not early 2000s.

I haven't seen it yet, but is is possible that the 'house on fire' is actually the old Cecil's resturaunt? That is about the most infamous fire that comes to my mind.

I hadn't thought of that, but it doesn't matter because it's not Cecil's. Anyway I would think that Cecil's is a tradition, but Cecil's burning is not. At least I hope that doesn't become a tradition.

Could be the tradition of every winter numerous small cabins seem to catch fire and burn and new larger ones replace them in the winter/spring. Not to imply anything is wrong with that – sometimes it is done with the assistance of local volunteer fire departments. But, probably not always.

I know of a place that just happened to burn twice. Each time a much bigger and nicer place replaced it. It hasn't happened again in several years so I guess they are happy with what they have now.

Catch 22. Hard to put up ad money when things are down. Yet no ads, less business.

i'm not gonna count but it looks like about as many ads as usual, there's just no content. no good stories, etc
i looked at that picture too, and now that you mention it, it makes no sense to the story. not really a story either, more like a commercial for alex city.
