Just noticed the Lake Martin Oyster Bar on Hwy 34 is now open. I didn't have time to stop, but has anyone checked it out yet? Food quality, menu, prices, atmosphere? Thanks
|
Same owners as the one in Auburn. I would assume that it will have the same good quality and service everyone raves about. Glad to hear they are open. We went that way a few weeks back, but they were not open yet.

Where is it located on 34? Near Blue Creek Marina? Or up in Dadeville?

In the words of ole Diz, I will have to say that they 'sluid' on down real good! I haven't had raw oysters in about 10 yrs so I really enjoyed them. RR, my post about shortest title was referring to your post titled "I".....

wow that is a great price for a dz. Are you sure that was not 6? Around Atlanta you pay about $2 per Oyster. I would expect it to be cheaper at the lake, but that is a bargin.

I used to eat them regular' but you really have to trust them when you eat inland. I used to go to the old Joe Dales in Atlanta to get mine. Rosa would shuck 'em as you go. Another one of my favs was Silkys in Memphis and Felix in NO. I don't travel much anymore so I miss them. Were these Apalatch Oysters?

Had a dozen there last night - outstanding. Looks like it's gonna be a cool place to hang. Best thing is that it's only a mile or two from my house.

I want to know what day that is before I go. Fresh to me is buying them straight off the boat. If I buy them on Friday, I throw out any that ore left on Sunday evening.

From the reaction to this post, the major problem might not be freshness of the oysters, but having enough oysters to last the week!!

I hope it is shorts/t-shirt and flip-flops?? Pine tables/dollar bill ceilings/tap beer?? Noisy?? There is an oyster bar in Panama City that is just perfect for slurping oysters, jousting football teams, and in general, just enjoying Oysters. Called "Dusty's". Anybody been there?

I live on the lake but spend 3 month in the winter each year on the beach in Panama City Beach. I have oysters at least twice a week at Dusty's....on the half shell $5.95, baked $7.95, draft Miller Lite $1.00 to $1.50....Ice House beer in a can always cold and always a $1.00. National Champion oyster shucker (didn't know they had such a thing until several years ago) behind the oyster bar. It's a dive but absolutely my favorite place in PCB!

My wife and I had the distinct pleasure of eating at " Dustys " the first week they were open. Long, long, long time ago. The national shucker's name is Scottie. He won the title by competing in Scotland ( of all places ). The year he won, they had a banner hanging above the bar congratulating him. He is also the guy to talk to if you are interested in how the fish are biting around PC. You are correct.. it isa " dive ", but we love it. Beats " Shuckums " 10 to 1.
