GF will be back and provide us with his take on the loss of Kennedy's seat to the GOP. I suspect he is trying to sort out the true ramifications of this election versus the spin on both sides. He is one of the most level headed leftists I know...still almost always wrong, but not emotional...

Wifey and I went to Biloxi for a night and just returned home. Sadly, the result of this trip was identical to Coakley's result.

Coakley lost because she was arrogant and deserved to lose. The most recent deal with the unions on health care I think sealed her fate. Those independent middle class voters felt that this was blatantly unfair.

I read that the bluest of states voted for a Republican. Well, keep in mind that the strongest Republican candidate for the Republican nomination for President in 2008, Romney, was the Governor of MA.

We won’t see the Dems trying to force the health bill through before Brown is seated. Rather, the process will begin again with debate. The Republicans also need to be careful and participate in meaningful debate rather than be obstructionists. The next few months will be quite interesting with both parties trying to deliver some meaningful legislature going into the 2010 mid term.

History just repeats itself with both parties having control of government and being unable to effectively govern. It is too bad but too many humans from both parties after winning begin to abuse the power. Some will argue that we need to elect all new people. Government needs experience with turnover. Remember, all those who have been in power for years were, at one time, running for the first time as the fresh face in congress.

Gone Fishing in particuliar, just don't get it, or maybe ignore the obvious. Brown's win was a statement by the electorate and reinforced my belief that the Country's rush toward socialism is wrong headed. The arrogance of the people in power in Washington is mind numbing and just maybe, the message will register -- we, the voters, indeed count..

Husker- Your statement about the arrogance of our politicians is right on. And it is on both sides, sorry to say. Another reason to believe if they are there, they are part of the problem.
