I heard on CNN this AM of a "bridge to nowhere" in Seattle. This bridge is connecting two sites within the vast Microsoft campus. The original cost was to be $22M with $17M coming from Microsoft and $5M from local and state funding. This bridge originally was being financed in the manner that it should have been.

Then, guess what happens. Federal stimulus dollars suddenly appear. The cost increases from $22M to $30M with 100% coming from stimulus funds. Microsoft suddenly was eliminated from supplying any funding that was strictly a convenience issue for its employees.

I'm sure that this $30M created at least 1,000 jobs based on current Obama accounting practices. Aren't we glad that we have unlimited funding in this country and we can disperse money without accountability.

Since I have an Apple computer, I feel that they are entitled to their own
bridge to "Nowhere".

for taking OUR Money rather than spending their own as planned, should have refused it. Shame on them, but they probably cannot give it back if they tried.
BUT, But, I have to give Microsoft(and others) credit for enabling me to "point and Click" my way through the Internet, rather than using "Basic" to try to communicate via computer. Never would have happened, despite OwlGore's claim.

You need to thank Steve Jobs and Apple for your point and click. Without the Mac in 1984, you would still be using DOS.

Back in the dark ages, those of us in the Intel/DOS crowd, berated the Mac crew and suggested that Macs were for people who were too stupid to type. We were in turn lambasted by the Motorola/Unix crowd who said we only had a video game. As far as communication is concerned, has anyone seen Kermit recently. ;-)
