I was just reading a comment by a friend of mine about how horrible Progressive was on a claim they submitted for their boat. It was completely denied. I am assuming that this damage is as a result of the storms. We have Progressive for our boat - as referred by USAA, but we have never had a claim. I always feel that with insurance, you make more headway with claims when it is just an individual things and not a big sitution like a hurricane.

I have Boat US on two boats, note that Boat US is owned by Geico now. I also had roadside/towing insurance. I've never filed a claim, but I did have a towing problem once. I was towing my boat through rural AL on a Sunday and blew a tire on the trailer (tandem). When I called them, they were SPOT ON. Most tire shops were closed, as it was Sunday, or didn't have my tire. Boat US called around and found a guy, and got him to me in an hour. I only had to pay the $80 for the tire, they paid everything else.
A few things to consider with Boat US, when you sign up you can add on the water towing; a couple different options here. Second, they also cover freeze damage for our region so if you, or your mechanic, do not winterize properly, you can be covered for damage.
Remember, it's not about who is cheaper, but what kind of coverage you are getting/paying for such as uninsured boater liability, EPA coverage, etc.
