So despite all the panic porn over Omicron it looks more like a common cold than the Delta variant was.  This is more in line with how viruses normally develop with becoming more transmissive and less serious. The question is whether the panic porn purveyors in the media and power hungry politicians will still try to lock us down.....my guesstimate is yes, especially as we move closer to the midterms.  Any excuse to have drop boxes for ballots that they can stuff.

As one very interesting example, the state of Florida tests wastewater in their sewage treatment plants for COVID and 100% of the results in the last round of testing was Omicron.  And the biggest outbreaks are where you would expect them, in the Northeast, upper Midwest and NW where the colder temps have sent more people inside.  These are also interestingly the areas with the highest vax rates.  In the last several weeks nearly every new infection of a friend or acquaintance has been vaccinated with many of them boosted.  The reality is that the vaccines are not terribly effective in preventing infection, something we already knew, and with Omicron dominating the numbers of hospitalized and dying will hopefully drop.

Sorry to hear so many of your friends and  acquaintances in the last several weeks have tested positive for Covid. Must be difficult worrying about their recovery. Looks like a fulltime job. Are you finding the severity differs between those vaxxed and non vaxxed? Maybe you need to encourage them to wear a mask.

Why are you sorry?  Universally the vaxxed and unvaxxed have had very mild symptoms, more like a cold than the flu.  Hmmmmmm.....  And for the unvaxxed they will now have immunity for far longer than they would ever get with the jab....assuming of course the test was accurate which is highly suspect. 

Goofy, lest you have forgotten this is actually the cold and flu season.  Happens every year....and gasp....yes....even before the ChiCom virus came about.  So no, it takes almost none of my time fretting about a friend or acquaintance getting a cold in December.

Uncle Joe is going to make a speech tomorrow that the public faces severe illness and death if they don't get vaccinated.  You've got to give him credit for staying on message long after anyone else would have moved on.  I guess he doesn't read his poll numbers.  My feeling at this point is that the vaccines and boosters are out there - most of us who wanted them, have got them by now.  So continuing to hammer the issue isn't going to make those that haven't vaxxed rush out.  It just makes people dig in harder, because they don't want to be mandated or told what to do.  The information is out there, and it is up to the individual to follow it or not.  

A lot of people have COVID fatigue, and have turned off the message.

Don't know if you saw or heard about the Atlantic article, but some guy wrote one about that very thing.  He said where he lives no one thinks or cares about Covid and they are just living their lives.  Lot more to it but that was the gist of the article.  The left wing nut snowflakes went beserk with tons threatening to cancel their subscription.  To me this is further proof that liberalism is a mental illness.  These people need a crisis in their lives and the government to tell them what to do or they are lost.  They simply do not trust their own judgement and to be honest I can't blame them......if I believed all the untrue things they believe are true I too would not trust my own judgement.

I agree - and not just about COVID.  These are the same people who are terrified that something will happen to their children if they are not hovering over them every minute, the ones that go to the school board if a teacher says somehting that they don't agree with.  They are the same ones that are insisting that the US follow some ridculous pathway for climate change - these people follow some 16 year old who they have taken as their personal God on climate change.  But they don't worry about the national debt, they don't worry about the economic decisions being made and they don't worry about foreign policy.  

It's crazy.
