The Ticfaw 200 will be shortened to around 180 miles this year, due to the damage to some of the stops in N.O. Many on this forum are meeting next Thursday on the interstate just south of Montgomery around 8:00am. We will then make our way to N.O. during the day. If you need any additional information, and would like to travel with the group please contact the shop.

If this is an offshore event be careful. Recently heard of a boat that sheared off both lower units (outboards) when he hit a car about ten miles offshore.

I haven't heard of any cars but I don't doubt that it's true. However, I have heard of people down in that area running into sunken oil rigs. There were around 160 oil rigs seriously damaged or sunk during Katrina all in that area. My good friend knows a captain who incurred major damage to his hull when he ran into some piece of equipment down there. A floating log is one thing, but a piece of an oil rig is a different story. Yall be careful.

Look out for headrests, evidentially they can cause major prop damage too.

I think the post about a boat hitting a car was from an urban legand. Cars are not positively buoyant, they sink. I have looked on every maritime warning network web site I could find. Every chart indicates where wreckage exists there are warning buoys...

As for wood or other floating debris, stay in the prop wash zone of someone else and let them clear the way :-)
