Growing scrutiny over Axelrod's financial interest in his former employer and his participation in Big Pharma smoke-filled back room deal. This is being reported mostly by Politico (see url below). Some basic info: Axelrod left advertising firm AKPD that still owes him $2M. Axelrod facilitates Big Pharma closed room deal with Obama that seriously limits their financial exposure to Obamacare. Big Pharma places $24M ad campaign through AKPD.

This could be a violation of law that hopefully will not be swept under the rug by the Holder Justice Department. Any doubt what the outcry would be if said advisor were named Rove and said President were Bush?

I can't believe they could not find another advertising firm to avoid an ethical investigation.

It doesn't remind me of Rove but this comes across as quite similar. Where you
as upset with this:

"Halliburton, the Texas company which has been awarded the Pentagon's contract to put out potential oil-field fires in Iraq and which is bidding for postwar construction contracts, is still making annual payments to its former chief executive, the vice-president Dick Cheney.

The payments, which appear on Mr Cheney's 2001 financial disclosure statement, are in the form of "deferred compensation" of up to $1m a year."

If you have evidence that Cheney was in a room negotiating contracts for Halliburton then yes it falls under the same ethical and legal lapses that Axelrod may be caught up in. Having participated in federal government procurement I seriously doubt you will find that being the case. Keep me posted on your research....

And if you can point to a Cheney child that worked for Halliburton at the same time Cheney was VP we can draw the same conclusion about the ethical/legal lapse.

Somehow, considering the amount of scrutiny he got from left wing groups and Congress this analogy doesn't quite work. What is interesting is Cheney personally paid for a $15,000 insurance policy that guaranteed the payments due from Halliburton. So unless Axelrod did the same I would argue that Cheney had no vested financial interest in the success of Halliburton while Axelrod would directly benefit from the ad buy. Maybe Axelrod did the same thing which in my view was a very smart thing for Cheney to do.

And of course, Halliburton continues to get contracts from the Federal government long after Bush and Cheney are gone, probably because they are the qualified low bidder. But maybe Cheney cronies in Federal procurement are secretly swinging work to Halliburton......
