Subject:   Shoreline Clean-up

I need some help in getting my shoreline cleaned-up from debris over the winter. I have styrofoam and a couple of wood docks and tree limbs, etc. that seem to be attracted to my little area. I understand that there are groups that do this periodically in the spring? How do i get in touch with them? I am on the Winston County side, near Bailey's Bridge. Many thanks. This will get my wife off my back.

The groups of people you're referring to are volunteers who (with APCOs help) go around the lake picking up and collecting debris and rubish that has been left by uncaring people and polluters. I don't think it is done as a service to lake residents.

I think the idea is that we all need to take care of our own debris. There are plenty of people around the lake that can be hired to haul off items like you mentioned.

April 16-17 - Smith lake (Winston County)
This cleanup will target large blocks of Styrofoam. Sites to be determined. Please contact coordinators for information if you wish to participate.

June 11-13 - Smith Lake (Winston County)
The event will be staged at site to be deterrmined. The Saturday community cleanup will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at noon. A picnic lunch will follow the cleanup.
