They might want to run a couple more of those turbine units tomorrow, or we will hit 490 in a muddy hurry.

Where are all the supporters that want a winter level of 483 in the winter????

Count me as one who wants 483 in the winter. Remember they can release excess water but they can't make it rain! It is just that simple!

No they can't always release excess water. One of the main purposes of the dam is flood control. If it is flooding downstream they can't release water, they may need to hold the water back. If the winter level is kept higher then that there is less water that can be held in the lake during our rainiest season. So do we raise the lake level for a couple of folks who are too lazy to use a trailer to boat in the winter and risk either flooding downstream or flooding around the lake. The lake level is based on historical weather data that goes back for decades. I see no reason to change it for a recent exceptional drought.

What do you think used to happen before there was a dam?

Of course they can release and it has nothing to do with being "lazy."

Personally, I would like to see the lake managed as more of a "run of the river" lake like other APCO lakes. In those there is very little level change from winter to summer.

Why go and inject facts, common sense, and logic into the conversation?
