Last night about 11p got a great view of the moon and Jupiter. Uranus is supposed to be visible but I couldn't fnd it. The moon is almost full and you can see the surface clearly with a spotting scope. Jupiter appears as a very bright object not far to the left of the moon. I saw Jupiter's surface fairly clearly with a telescope (a cheap one) and could see the rings very clearly. The lake is the perfect place for viewing such events. I wish I had a better telescope!
Anyway, it was really neat...should be visible for the next couple of nights. Tonight is a harvest moon.

It was awesome last night. I didn't do the telescope thing but thought about it for tonight. Thanks for the encouragement.

From NASA:
Super Harvest Moon
The action begins at sunset on Sept 22nd, the last day of northern summer. As the sun sinks in the west, bringing the season to a close, the full Harvest Moon will rise in the east, heralding the start of fall. The two sources of light will mix together to create a kind of 360-degree, summer-autumn twilight glow that is only seen on rare occasions.
See the rest of the info linked below.
