JUNE LAKE LEVELS! Any insight/proactive suggestion

What gives? The Corps of Engineers in their infinite
wisdom continue to release water, despite the fact that Georgia, Florida and
Alabama independently received 0.50 to 2 inches of rain across each state
during the past 48 hours.
The lake is 6.23 feet down from full-pool and on
this current trajectory we might as well write-off yet another recent boating
season.
- Boating on the lake is dangerous and more and more accidents are happening
- An increasing number of Lanier docks are now not usable
- This will negatively impact local area businesses…again!
- HAVE WE NOT ALL SEEN THIS MOVIE BEFORE?
- The last push took this to the Supreme Court and Georgia recently won that case – didn’t we???
The Corps answers to no one and no one in the
community kicks-up a fuss…including these message boards.
Has everyone given up and just resigned to sit
back and let career incompetent bureaucrats ruin the summer? Any insight or
proactive suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
A concerned
and fed-up Lake Resident

Agreed. Just another example of Spite being the basis for the water policy on Lake Lanier.

I get so frustrated with the COE for exactly what you are saying. It seems I find myself hoping for rain on a daily basis and then when it does rain they let even more water out; this is a no win situation. If you have any suggestions I am more than willing to help fight the water war.

Any attorneys on this board? Perhaps a class action lawsuit against the core for the stated reasons would get somebody's attention. Safety and loss of commerce by local business seem worthy of corrective action.

Unfortunately it is a government-run operation, and we all know that government run entities are extremely inefficient and couldn't care less about what the general population thinks or feels. Florida has been hit with record rainfall, as well as southern GA and AL, but the water still flows out. There is no room for intelligence with any government agency.

I bought a house on Lanier in June 2010. I have had water under my dock for 3 months! This is crap. Speak up or shut your mouth. There is no rhyme or reason to the water release program. I understand you must maintain proper stream flow to support an oxygen stable river for water borne life but you can't keep hiding behind that anymore. Politction's beware as the property owners that support your water hole can generate an effect on your re-election efforts. Support the home team for a change. After all you live here too. As unfruitful as it sounds, I think an online petition should be started and get us on the radar. Having no cater under my dock is costing me $75,000.00 in property value. You can't call it a lake house if there is NO LAKE. We are the silent majority. Only now you can you can remove the "silent"
