- In preparation for the legalization of marijuana in Colorado which becomes effective January 1, 2014, resorts are touting the use of marijuana as one of the enticements to come to the slopes in Colorado. One tour company,(my420tours.com), is offering guests a trippy time with canabis sampling, a daily 4:20p.m. happy hour party, and a marijuana cooking and recipe class. It is also going to be relatively easy to smoke marijuana at resorts without getting caught . Wooded areas off some of Colorado's slopes already are dotted with "smoke shacks", which are old mining cabins which have been repurposed as places to use the drug out of the cold and wind. If you have a question as to why do they have to be concerned about getting caught, it is because most of the resorts are on federal lands where the use of marijuana is illegal. Some of the resorts are trying to relay to potential vacationers(particularly family guests) of the changes they are about to witness on the slopes.

I will do my skiing in Montana, Utah and Oregon. I already fear the out of control snow boarders and the mixture of pot and alcohol will make them particularly dangerous. Headed to Mt. Bachelor this year after a couple of years of Big Mountain, MT.
