my name is AJ Simmons and I have lived on the lake for 3 years now. Have followed some of yall's posts and enjoyed learning how some of yall pattern fish on the lake. I tried to make a better username but accidently typed martin thinking it was asking what lake i fished. Anyway, if i ever get time away from studying here at auburn ill try to post some updates or somethin.

Thanks laketracker, hope to learn some things and provide any insight of my own. Have you been out on the lake recently? last trip i made was last wednesday and had only a few fish on a football jig down in blue creek. This year has been different for me than other years with the warmer temps staying so late into the year.

Yes, I have noticed the same. I was out there on the thanksgiving holiday and caught more fish in the deeper river channel areas. I suppose the warmer temps drove them back deeper. I used shad colored spoons dropped over them with my lowrance where I saw bait fish at 50-60 feet.  Caught mix of spots and crappie. I caught a few at sunset in the shallows around the entrance of creeks with shad swim baits. Water temp was 68. Weather needs to stabilize and it will improve the catch.

Bait caster reel, medium heavy rod, 30lb test braided line, 3/4 ounce spoons. Just look for baitfish on your finder and drop the lure directly  over. Baitfish packed together like round clouds are the ones you want because they huddle close when predictor larger fish are by. You can watch your jig on the finder as you move it lightly up and down. Then be prepared for them to hit on the drop. It gets your heart rate going when you see the action happen on the finder! Fun!

Flourcarbon line is also a good alternative, 10 or 12# line should be adequate. P line makes a flourclear that is less expensive and is very good line. Baiy casters do work the best, easier to measure off line or if you know amount of line across the spool to drop to desired depth.

tight lines
