Where do you get yours and what brands. I have been using Cowboy and buying at Lowes as it burned longer and had less rocks and debris in it. Went into Lowes today and all of the lump charcoal had been removed. Thought for a minute that they had sold out but even the pallets were gone. They had a good price of almost $16 a 18# bag. On my way through Eclectic stopped at Russell Do It and they carry the sam for $ 2 less a bag. Cheaper and closer by 15 miles.

Seems whereever I get it all bags have been handled heavily, leaving lots of small pieces and dust in the bottom of bag.  Been studying how to make my own.  But have not tried yet.

I used to cook at a BBQ place and we always used wood. I tried it in my smoker and it works great. White oak and hickory. I tried starting it on the side and adding it and building fire in grill or smoker and letting it burn down. Both worked. It is pretty hands on but fun.
