OK, I have had it! Every night bass boats come into our slough, which is very narrow and short. We, along with our neighbors are constantly getting pounded with lures. They hang our green monster lights, break bulbs and snag the cords, causing shorts in the wires. These lights are EXPENSIVE, YOU IDIOTS. As if that isn't bad enough, we have removed hooks from our upholstery and canvasses on our boats and jet skis.
We have installed a switch on our deck so we can turn off our lake lights when we see fishermen approaching. Now we get cursed and boats leave at full throttle causing damage to our floaters and seawall.
Are you people just stupid?
When the boat that hit my jet skis with a jig tonight, I was actually standing on my seawall fishing myself. Maybe I shouldn't have hit your bass boat with my 1/2" lead head swim bait, but you hit my brand new Kawasaki first. Turn about is fair play. Then you left full throttle, almost colliding with my floating dock and pushing huge wake throughout the small slough disturbing everyone's evening. You wonder why full time lake residents don't care for bass fishermen? It is because you all behave the same, with no respect and complete disregard for others.
There are 40+ thousand acres of water here, 75% of which is undeveloped. Go fish where there are no homes...

You are not accurate in blaming the bass fishermen. Some may be at fault, but it's the tournament
bozos that are doing that. These people are despised by the regular bass fishermen and the other
fishermen as much as the home owners. Tournament fishing brings out the worst in fishing. How in the
hail, we can start pushing high school tournaments to bring along another group to follow in the shoes of
the egotistical crew is beyond me. It's all about ego and Franklins.

"Every night bass boats come into our slough" These are NOT tournament guys fishig every night. Tournaments are held during the day.

By far, probably 90% , of the bass tournament on Martin are held at night during the summer months

Amen, sorry about the rant, but 9 of 10 boats that visit our slough are without respect...

Yep, most appear to be locals that know the lights and repeat offenders

I'm a tournament bass fisherman but I don't fish night tournaments for this very reason. I'm also very respectful of peoples property so if I hook your dock/boat/whatever I will retrieve my bait because I believe in the mantra "Leave it like you found it or better than you found it". I'll make sure to spread the word about this issue and hopefully some of these anglers will take notice.
I know those monster lights are expensive but they are also a bass draw. I'll see what I can do about promoting ethical behavior.

I'll go a step further and say that those G.D. WAKE BOATS are from the loins of HELL!!! Yes, I'm full time! Yes, I have a pier and a nice, expensive boat tied to it! And it CONSTANTLY rocked by these damned wake boats who's pilots have NO FREAKIN' CLUE about the damage they're doing to my boat, pier, and shoreline!!!!!
I truely hope that one day soon the WAKE BOAT goes the way of the house boat on Lake Martin.......GONE!!!! If they'd get out in big, open water, it'd be one thing. But NO!!! They think that they have to slip by at a snails pace throwing that HUGE wake not 50 yards from my pier. I had to break down and get some LARGE mooring whips to keep MY BOAT AWAY FROM MY PIER to keep it from totally getting destroyed!! Those weren't cheap, btw.
