This boat appears to be less than 26'11" which makes it legal, no matter how fast it goes.

15 or 50mph - you're still at a distinct disadvantage when your drunk friend drives into the shore.

I sold my 17 foot Four WInn 3 years ago and the 1st day the new owner he ran it into a sand bar going about 30 mph & threw his wife out of the boat....turned out to be a blessing because they found she had cancer while doing a CAT scan on her.
Point is.....the size of the boat doesn't matter; the driver's judgement is what matters!!!

I don't see any excuses. This accident was the drivers fault, not the boats. The person was BWI, and it was night-time. He will have to pay the consequences of his risk.
Do you seriously think that there will not be accidents if there were only "small" or "slow" boats?

attacks. Can't think of anything substantive to, say so just attack.
|
Your ignorance on this subject is substantial. That is not an attack, but a fact you have proven over and over.
You have many good thoughts on many subjects, but for some reason you just can’t seem to allow yourself to see the big picture on this issue or give credit to those who are responsible in their actions with large and/or fast boats…... BTW, I have neither but I respect those who do and act responsibly. I’m sorry if I offended you, but your line of reasoning is also offensive.

I have followed from a distance all the back and forth on large, fast boats and for some reason it always devolves into name calling. I recognize that many people have strong opinions about this issue but it doesnt help to question someone's intelligence or motivation. My personal view is that the boat drivers have ultimate responsibility for what happens regardless of boat size. Having said that, it is obvious that the potential ramifications of a boat going 50mph hitting something are more significant than one that only goes 15mph (it's basic mathematics). Hence, an intoxicated driver of a fast boat going fast is a bigger danger than the slower boat (although both are obviously a danger). What this really comes down to is personal responsibility and a responsible driver of a fast boat is less of a danger than an irresponsible driver of a slower boat. We all need to be careful because boating is supposed to be fun and we all lose when one of these accidents happen.

I bet one tenth of one percent of the population enjoying Lake Martin has ever even visited this Forum.
I will also bet that everyone of us in this small percentage knows every possible nuance to the debate pro or con.
The choir would like to sing some, and most of us are tired of the preaching.
