I have just purchased a 2005 VIP Vegas, 4.3, V6 I/O. The original owner did not have any service manuals and I have not had any luck on-line locating service recommendations. Can anyone provide recommended preventive maintenance suggestions? Other than annual winterizing? Or perhaps a marina near the Houston area that services I/O? Donna

Houston TX.???? We do make service calls sometimes. I think we could make "Service Vacations". LOL, kidding, check the Lake Charles area, or maybe Dickenson Tx. Area.

You can go to Mercury Marine's website and create a log-in recording your engine and outdrive model and serial numbers. This will allow you to not only download PDFs of the service manuals but also look up parts and determine which registered dealer in your area has them in stock.

Oh, sorry. Brain fart. Call Nelems Marine, ask for Robert Nelems. He is great. If that don't work, call Cathouse Marine, Prattville. A little distance from you, but I will help. Steve

I think they are closed. I hear the previous owner is still in town doing marine work.

I was just wondering if you knew William. It seems like you two have some common interests (going 90 whenever possible). I bought a truck from him a few years back.

William was indeed a good friend of mine. We choose different paths! I would really like to speak with him, and visit. We shared many great times. With all due respect, we should discuss this on email.

That sounds like a great idea but darned if I can find on their web page at http://www.mercurymarine.com/ where to do that. Can you post a specific link to the account-creation page? Thanks.

The Mercrusier web site has some good information under the tab marked warranty and service.
To get the parts informantion go to the Mercury Parts Express web site and establish a login account including your engine and sterndrive #s
You probably could aquire a generic shop mannual at any boat repair/parts outlet or you can order the original from Parts Express. You will need only the owner's manual for basic maintenance.
