I think I have read on the forum about building fires on the shore after the water has gone down. I would love to do this with my children...but want to make sure that it is legal. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Legal is a relative term. Some would say that anything is legal if you don't get caught. But realistically I have never seen it be a problem as long as you are responsible and only burn brush and wood. Don't burn household trash in the lakebed please.

Oh yea...definitely no trash...just regular old dead wood. Thanks

Just use your girl scout/boy scout rules. Keep a bucket close by. Do not leave unattended and put it out when finished. We have had a fire every weekend that the wind allowed over the years without any problems or questions. I think the key is responsibility for the fire. Don't forget the marshmallows, gram crackers and chocolate bars.

Very fun to do ... just be safe. Great to sit on the lake bed next to the fire on a cold night roasting some marshmellows and sipping a little single malt or a nice red.

Stop by the fire station in Alex City and tell them where and when you are going to have a fire. We do this every time we come down to burn logs that have accumulated on our lake front. They will request an address and to see your driver's license. We can't wait until December for our yearly winter bon fire. Enjoy!
