OK lake Lanier is near full pool, Altoona (sp) is 10 feet over full pool. Maybe we can quit fussin' now!

It would be nice to see Lanier filled. This week Lanier has achieved a level not seen since May 2007. They've not seen full pool since September 7, 2005. It's been a hot topic. Last year the locals created a group called the "1071 Coalition" (Lanier MSL) to promote the interest of maintaining full pool. I think their main concern was putting some accountablity on the Corp of Engineers with which they have had problems.
There is a lot of interest from Georgia to say the least. I had over 100 new member accounts yesterday and today looks to be just as many.
As for Allatoona, I've found out that their flood pool is 20 feet above full pool. I've driven by there in a car and I'm trying to imagine 20 feet above full pool because I don't remember the banks being that steep. I think the road I was on would be flooded right now.

We still have roads closed. I didnt hear anything about Allatoona closing a road. All the low areas, creeks, streams and such closed a bunch of roads and ruined a lot of houses. I-285 is still closed around south cobb pkwy, and I-20 is closed around six flags.
They say a drought ends with a flood.

I'm waiting for people to start complaining that APCO will not lower the level fast enough so they can do maintenance on their docks.

Well, my best fishing spots for this time of year are better at 485 and below, but I will just have to go to Bass Pro Shops and buy some more lures so I can fish them at 488+. Darn!

I've been checking the Lake Lanier level the last 2 weeks to see if they could get it to full pool. Looks like it's still down 3+'. I think they will have problems with the water level for a long time. What really amazed me was the lacl of activity on the Lake Lanier Topics forum.. They only had 41 messages posted vs 70,000+ on the Lake Martin Topics forum.

We Lake Martin'ers do like to talk. Not a bad thing. Keeps everyone informed and up-to-date. Good for us, good for the lake.

I suspect that if LM were to go thru what Lanier has gone thru( pollution, drought) year after year after year, this Forum might not be very active either.
