Scary Lights!

This morning, around 2:45, I was letting my dog out and saw some strange lights. It looked like lightning at first so I listened for thunder... none. These lights lit up the entire sky but you could tell where the came from. I live on Smith Mountain and the lights seemed to be coming from the Old Susanna Rd. area, maybe hwy 49. It was probably a transformer or something but the went on a little too long for that and I never heard anything. Just wondering if anyone else saw it or knows what happened. :)

The substation on Turner Road exploded. We watched from Muscogee Way next to Chuck's Marina. Quite the show. I have not heard the cause at this time. I called Alabama Power and they have no information to share at this time. Over 1000 without power for a while.
