There are 6 new goats back on the island. They were released on May 16th and are doing great. We put out 2 Full sized makes, 3 females, and one of the females has a little "billy" with her. I have gone out several times and checked on them and they seem to be doing great. We have "treated" them once for pests and worms and have a date in the near future to treat again.
We are so happy that most people are enjoying the new goats on the island. These goats seem to be roamers...they are never in the same place when we go out!!
To those who are concerned about them through the winter...don't. We will be getting them off the island around Labor Day and they will spend the winter in my back pasture. Unfortunately...last years goats had no problem with the weather or lack of food...they were attacked by dogs(wild or tame is yet to be determined)so we are going to take that chance out of the equation.

I hope everyone enjoys the goats this summer, and play safe!!

Thank you Laura for the goats and the continuing of a LM tridition. I hear of the goats being attacked by wild dogs but has anyone ever seen any evidence of the attack. Normally there would be some remains.

I will donate for their care and wellbeing and will be by to see you at the market.

Laura, I just had too laugh as I read about the "Billygoats" and thinking of my friend "Billy G" who just had his annual music festival which is not important. I'm writing as my cousins Eileen and Chris, and Aunt Adele come to mind as well your resturant. I say all this as we've spoke only in person and perhaps on the phone. I just wanted to touch base and say HI as I think of ya'll on occassion and the lake as well.. Hope you all are well, I'm okay. yet living with two dominate women suchas Catherine and Cleary can be taxing. Okay enough about me, hope things are going well considering our ecomoney etc., BTW.. I hope everyone that loves to go by and see the goats will also see fit to go by Green Valley Market and contribute to the food and upkeep of the animals. You are a very nice lady Laura and Lake Martin people thank you. Especially the part about removing them in the winter.
