I have to wonder what people think of Obama proposing a $3.8 trillion budget, when in the state of the union he talked about a fiscal restraint and budget freezes. Or does that only apply after he runs up government spending some more and creates more needless and wasteful programs.

WW: Sadly this only represents an increase of $400 billion over Bush's last budget. But it is a step in the wrong direction and we have to all remember, it doesn't even include the budget busters he wanted to enact.....yet......

Even more depressing though is of the $3.8 trillion we will borrow $1.6 trillion of it which is mind boggling. So when he complained about deficits under Bush he was actually lying to the American public.

While I do agree I wish this budget reflected the cuts, he was explicit that it will begin with the 2011 budget so calm down.

Wouldn't it make sense to oppose the budget when it is proposed rather than wait for it to be implemented? Using your approach it is truly better to close the barn door after the cow is in the middle of the road. Yeah, that's the time to get excited about it. Am I missing something or does that make zero sense?

REREAD what I wrote. I said i agreed with you but that wasn't what he stated in the State of the Union. I suspect the budget was completed and then Brown won in MA.

I read it right the first time but ignored the statement about the budget reflecting cuts because as I understood it he is freezing spending on only 17% of the entire budget. I don't consider increasing the budget 22% and then freezing a small portion of it a cut (baseline budgeting crap used by both parties).
I think this is his budget and he plans to freeze that small portion in the next budget. Where is he doing anything to the contrary?

In the last Republican controlled budget, which was 2006, the total deficit was $161 billion. Compare that to this year's totally controlled Democrat budget with a deficit of $1.6 trillion. It is ten times higher than the hypocrites on the left were screaming about a mere 4 years ago. This will bankrupt our country and is no longer about what happens to our children and grandchildren but what it will do to us. Every single tax paying American will see their taxes go up next year with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts. Another Obama lie brought to the fore.
But it won't happen until 2011 so I think I'll just calm down. What the heck, I mean that's not until next year after all!!

Between 1789 and 2008 (a span of 219 years) the U.S. government borrowed a total of $5.8 trillion dollars. IN the first three years of the Messiah's administration we are going to borrow $4.4 trillion.
Hound, GF and other Obama apologists, how can you not be outraged by this? Why are you so willing to accept this massive increase in spending, debt and taxes on all Americans when both of you were critical of the spending under Bush?
