will any of our lib/prog/dem friends care to explain why Prez Obama uses the acronym ISIL rather than ISIS when discussing that group?

Not a lib but I believe ISIS stands for Islamic State in Iraq and Syria while ISIL stands for Islamic State in Iraq and Levant.  I think "Levant" is a general term referring to that part of the world.

I believe it does.
