Hi everyone. In this string of posts it's said that the water level will start up in mid February, and another post indicated it would be at the end of Feb. In looking at the water level rule, beginning in mid February would maintain the slope of the rule(rate of change of the level). I'm wondering if we know for sure since 2 weeks of unexpected water could affect project plans. Thanks

One way to learn the system as well as see the history is to click the “home” button at the top right of this page. Where you see the current lake level box click to open.  You’ll see the graph and the last couple of years of water levels on the graph.  Click on 2016,17,and 18, and the lake levels will be added to the graph.  As you will see, the levels vary a great deal depending on rain here and upstream.  Now that APC has computer control of all dams they will be able to better control the impact of rain events, but fluctuations still course.

Word of advice: Don’t leave any tools, equipment, etc. unattended on the bank.  It just might float off, or go underwater!

There is a notice on the lake level graph page stating that they will begin raising the level on Feb 15. The lake level by month page is of no use as it shows the rule level at 484 feet through February, which is not correct in this year of an extra 3 foot drop. Because this year is unique with a 10 ft drop, the historical graphs aren't much help either.

Sorry but the 10ft drawdown is not"unique".  We had a ten foot drop for decades before switching to the current 7ft.  And before the 10ft drawdown there was a couple of decades of an anual 30ft. drop every year.

On another note just because the water starts up on the 15th doesnt mean you have to stop any work.  It takes just as long to come back to you pier as it did to move away.  Most folks can do dock work for several weeks after the water starts back up.

Thanks, I'll check a dictionary next time.

Refer to the FERC license, it details how it works.
