Subject:   There is almost no market for used EV's

As if there weren't enough trouble getting people to shell out big bucks for a new EV (even with massive govt subsidies), as is happening today in China and Europe there is little to no market for used EVs.  There are literally huge graveyards of used EVs in China and Europe because no one wants to buy a car that will require a $20K to $50K battery to replace the old one.  So not only are EVs an environmental and humanitarian disaster to manufacture, costs the equivalent of $17 per gallon of gas to charge, are mostly charged by coal-powered plants, etc. but will now litter the landscape with used ones that nobody wants.

What happened in China and Europe and will soon happen in the U.S. is a direct result of the government distorting the free market.  Absent gov't intervention EV's would be out of financial reach for the vast majority of Americans and even with subsidies are only feasible for the very well off.  And as those batteries age and become unstable there will be even more environmental damage.  Good news I guess is that they can store them with the old solar panels and wind farm blades in huge outdoor dumps.

I don't think people are ready for EVs.  The cost is too much, the technology isn't there, there are too many risks associated with them and outside the cities, they really aren't practical.  I'm not saying that they will never be any good, but politicians and the green nuts are trying to push them too quickly on Americans.  Even hybrids haven't really gone full acceptance.  They need to slow down.  If the Earth has lasted all these thousands of years, I don't think it is going to collapse just because of fossil fuels.  EVs are way to expensive and as you point out, there is no market or trade in values.

WSFA reported a  one car EV accident on I65--caught fire and took 36,000 gallons of water to extinguish due to battery heat/chemicals/etc. So much for EV's being the savior of climate/fossil fuel

Water is pretty much useless with a battery fire.  About all you can do is let it burn.  Yet another reason to not buy an EV.
