thinking about new stuff for the boat. currently running a lowrance hdi, downscan, conventional sonar with gps lakes maps. been a good unit, now dated, never real user friendly. looking for all this stuff with side scan. hummingbird has been recommended by several pals, any thoughts??

I run Lowrance HDS gen 3 with down, side scan and navionics chip for the gps. Carbon is their newest, supposed to faster. Hummingbird is good, don't think it will use navionics chip for maping. Garmin is supposed to be good also.
if you choose a hummingbird, I have a friend that uses it and will spend time on the water teaching you all you need to know
(for a small fee) I can do the same thing with Lowrance and teach you what I have learned and different settings and how to use the side scan.
